British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has firmly rejected growing calls for his resignation, insisting that his government retains a strong mandate to govern.

The demand for Starmer’s departure has resurfaced following renewed scrutiny over former Labour official Peter Mandelson’s past associations with Jeffrey Epstein, sparking unrest both within the party and among the public. Downing Street sources said the Prime Minister is focused on pressing national issues and will not yield to political distractions.

Senior cabinet members have voiced their full support for Starmer. In a joint statement, key ministers, including the Chancellor and Home Secretary, said the government remains united and expressed “deep confidence” in the Prime Minister’s leadership. They described the calls for resignation as a “political maneuver” by the opposition Conservative Party. The cabinet’s show of solidarity provides Starmer with some cushion against internal pressure, though attacks from opposition figures continue.

Meanwhile, opposition parties and protest groups have framed the controversy as a “crisis of public trust,” demanding transparency regarding Mandelson’s past and the government’s handling of related documents.

Government officials have repeatedly stressed that any past personal associations of former figures do not reflect on the current administration. Political analysts suggest that the ongoing debate could have a significant impact on Starmer’s stability as Prime Minister and on the Labour Party’s popularity in the coming weeks.
