Donald Trump has indicated that a second round of peace talks with Iran could begin as early as Friday, according to a report by New York Post.
The newspaper cited Pakistani officials as saying discussions may resume within the next 36 to 72 hours. When asked about the possibility, Trump responded in a brief message, saying, “It’s possible!”
The current ceasefire between the United States and Iran was initially set to expire on Wednesday evening. However, Trump announced an extension before the deadline, stating that the move was intended to give Iran time to present a “unified proposal” aimed at ending the conflict.
Unlike a previous two-week deadline, the latest extension does not specify a fixed end date.
Several key issues remain unresolved in the peace process. These include whether Iran will be allowed to continue uranium enrichment, what will happen to its existing stockpile of highly enriched uranium, and which sanctions imposed on the country might be lifted.
The success of any final agreement will largely depend on how much compromise each side is willing to make.
