U.S. authorities have rolled out what officials describe as the largest security operation ever for a sporting event in the country's history ahead of the FIFA World Cup final, with President Donald Trump expected to attend the match at MetLife Stadium.

The White House said the extensive security measures could lead to significant delays for spectators and advised fans to arrive at the stadium at least four hours before kickoff.

According to The Telegraph, the World Cup final has been designated a Level 1 Special Event, the highest security classification in the United States.

Andrew Giuliani, Executive Director of the White House's FIFA Task Force, told The Telegraph that the security operation is comparable to those used for a presidential inauguration or a State of the Union address.

"In terms of security, this is on the same level as a presidential inauguration or the State of the Union," Giuliani said. "In fact, it is even bigger than the Super Bowl. We've brought together numerous federal agencies to support the New Jersey State Police."

The security operation includes F-16 fighter jets patrolling the skies, military-trained snipers positioned on the stadium roof, and thousands of FBI agents deployed around the venue and surrounding areas.

Before the tournament began, the White House FIFA Task Force cited a security breach involving an armed individual at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in April as a reminder of the security threats facing major public events.

Giuliani said President Trump had approved $625 million in federal security funding to support the tournament.

"Fortunately, the first 103 matches have been completed safely. We want to ensure the final is just as secure," he said.

Earlier, The Telegraph reported that the World Cup final would likely mark Trump's first appearance at the tournament. Following the match, he is expected to join FIFA President Gianni Infantino in presenting the World Cup trophy to the champions.

Planning for Sunday's security operation has been underway for the past two years, involving federal law enforcement agencies, local police departments and private security firms. Officials said they had anticipated Trump's attendance from the outset of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said an F-16 fighter jet intercepted a small civilian aircraft that entered a temporary flight restriction zone ahead of the final.

The military aircraft deployed flares to attract the pilot's attention before escorting the plane safely out of the restricted airspace.

NORAD said temporary flight restrictions imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) over New York and New Jersey would remain in effect from Friday through the conclusion of Sunday's final.

The FBI also said it had seized hundreds of drones that entered restricted airspace around World Cup stadiums during the tournament.

The World Cup final between Spain and Argentina is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 a.m. Bangladesh time on Sunday night.

The U.S. Secret Service has further strengthened the presidential security perimeter around Trump, with officials warning that spectators may face long queues and extended screening procedures before entering the stadium.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump's attendance would mark the conclusion of what she described as "the most attended, safest and most successful World Cup" in U.S. history.

Trump's appearances at major sporting events have previously resulted in heightened security measures. Last month, several key roads in New York City were temporarily closed when he attended a game during the NBA Finals.
