Iran-Linked Tasnim News Publishes Video Threatening Melania Trump and Barron Trump

Tasnim News Agency, an Iranian media outlet widely reported to have close ties to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has published a Persian-language video containing threats against U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump's son, Barron Trump.

According to a report by The Times of Israel, the video, released on Monday, calls for the assassination of Melania Trump and includes references to publicly available information about her movements and security arrangements. It also names several department stores in Midtown Manhattan where the First Lady has reportedly shopped and describes security measures that are typically implemented before her visits.

The report says the video also mentions three individuals identified as Melania Trump's personal stylists, suggesting that they could be bribed to facilitate an attack. In addition, the narrator issues a direct threat against Barron Trump, concluding the video with a warning that, "This is only the beginning. Barron Trump, wait for us."

The video reportedly contains detailed references to the First Lady's routines and security precautions, which analysts say could be interpreted as an attempt to encourage or facilitate targeted violence. Authorities have not publicly commented on any specific security response to the video's publication.

Tasnim News is licensed under an organization established by a former IRGC commander and is widely regarded as a media outlet closely aligned with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The United States imposed sanctions on the outlet in 2023 because of its links to the IRGC.

Iran has repeatedly been accused by U.S. officials of threatening former and current American leaders. Earlier this month, Israel reportedly shared intelligence with the United States alleging that Iran had discussed plans targeting President Donald Trump.

In recent weeks, President Trump also acknowledged the threats during remarks to reporters, saying that Iranian officials wanted to kill him and that he believed he remained a primary target.

Previously, in 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice announced charges in connection with an alleged IRGC-directed plot to assassinate Trump ahead of that year's presidential election.

The latest video emerged despite reports that diplomatic contacts and mediation efforts had recently helped ease tensions following a period of heightened military confrontation between the United States and Iran. The authenticity of the video's claims and the extent of any operational threat have not been independently verified.
