Deputy Superintendent Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Quddus Passes Away

Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Quddus, a distinguished physician, former academic, and freedom fighter, has passed away at the age of 76 (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un).

He breathed his last at 2:20 PM on Saturday while undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in the capital after a prolonged illness.

Prof. Quddus was a former teacher in the Department of Ophthalmology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. He also served as a former Deputy Superintendent and was an advisory council member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In addition, he was a former president of the central committee of the Zia Parishad.

His first funeral prayer (janaza) will be held after Asr in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka. A second janaza is scheduled for Sunday after Zuhr, after which he will be laid to rest at his family graveyard in Gafargaon, Mymensingh.

He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, and several grandchildren, along with numerous well-wishers.

Leaders including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Standing Committee member Prof. Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain, and the Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Prof. Dr. F.M. Siddiqui, expressed deep condolences.

They paid tribute to his remarkable career and contributions, stating that the nation will remember his service with gratitude.
