Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that the government will soon begin the recruitment process for vacant positions across various public sector institutions.
Speaking during the question-and-answer session in the National Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, the Prime Minister made the remarks in response to a supplementary question from BNP lawmaker Abul Kalam, who represents the Cumilla-9 constituency.
“The government has a number of vacant positions in different sectors. Filling these posts is important to make public services more dynamic and ensure that citizens receive services more efficiently and conveniently,” Rahman told Parliament. “The government is reviewing the matter with utmost importance, and, Insha'Allah, we will start the recruitment process for these vacant posts as soon as possible.”
The parliamentary session began at 3:00 pm under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The first 30 minutes of the sitting were allocated to questions directed to the Prime Minister. Five starred questions had been scheduled, and the Prime Minister answered three of them along with supplementary questions from lawmakers.
In another starred question, originally submitted by BNP lawmaker Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas of Pabna-5, the question was raised in his absence by AKM Selim Reza Habib, MP for Pabna-2.
Responding to the query, Prime Minister Rahman said the government had decided to recruit 500,000 public employees. Of that number, recruitment activities are currently underway for 2,879 vacant positions within the Ministry of Public Administration and its subordinate departments and agencies.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening public administration and improving service delivery through timely recruitment in key vacant positions.
