The BNP has demanded the removal of controversial figures from the caretaker administration’s Advisory Council and called for a complete reconstitution of the body.

The demand was placed during a meeting with Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus on Saturday night.

The party also pressed for a clear roadmap for the next general election to be announced within December.

After the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan briefed the media on the party’s position.

The talks took place amid political tensions triggered by differences among parties over the election and Yunus’s “contemplation of resignation”.

The meeting started around 7:45pm at the chief advisor’s residence, State Guest House Jamuna, and lasted about 50 minutes.

The four-strong delegation was led by BNP Standing Committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

Other members included Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Salahuddin Ahmed.
