Displaced Gazans are now struggling under dual pressure—relentless Israeli bombardment on one side and rain-induced flooding on the other. Temporary tents have collapsed in the storm, buildings have crumbled, and casualties have been reported. With safe shelters scarce, many families are taking refuge in damaged structures. The United Nations has warned that 40 percent of Gaza’s population is at risk of flooding, and more than 760 refugee camps face extreme danger.
Amid this crisis, the White House said the second phase of President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan is quietly being prepared, though no timeframe for implementation has been set. Hamas, meanwhile, said the people of Gaza have rejected proposals for disarmament, and discussions with the United States on a new framework are underway. The group urged the international community to increase pressure on Israel.
Israel maintains that after any ceasefire, Hamas will have no role in Gaza’s governance and that the enclave will be completely demilitarized.
