Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined three conditions for ending the ongoing conflict, saying the war can only stop if Iran’s “legitimate rights” are recognized.
In a post on the social media platform X on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said he had spoken with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan and reiterated Iran’s commitment to regional peace.
“Iran reaffirms its commitment to regional peace,” he wrote. “The only way to end the war initiated by the Zionist regime (Israel) and the United States is to recognize Iran’s legitimate rights, provide compensation, and ensure strong international guarantees to prevent future aggression.”
Regional tensions have escalated since a joint attack on Iran began on February 28. According to Iranian authorities, more than 1,200 people have been killed in the attacks so far.
Among those killed was Iran’s then-supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. More than 10,000 people have also been reported injured in the strikes.
In retaliation, Tehran has launched attacks targeting U.S. facilities in Israel, Jordan, Iraq and several Gulf countries.
