NEWS DESKOn July 31st, the Cheektowaga Chapter of Muslim Ummah of North America (MUNA), under the umbrella of MUNA Upstate New York Zone, successfully hosted a vibrant community picnic at Stiglmeier Park. The event saw the participation of nearly 300 attendees, creating a day filled with joy, unity, and celebration.
The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests. Chief Guest Mr. Shamsul Arefin Hasib, Secretary of MUNA Upstate New York Zone, addressed the gathering with encouraging words. Among the special guests were Mr. Mohammad Abdus Shahid, President of MUNA Downtown Chapter; Mr. Mojir Uddin, President of the Connecticut Chapter; and Mr. Faisal Ahmed Chowdhury, Dawah Secretary of MUNA East Zone. Their presence added enthusiasm and spirit to the day’s celebrations.
The main highlights of the picnic included children’s Quran recitation, Hamd and Nasheed performances, and a fun-filled racing competition. For adults, a friendly football match was organized, drawing much excitement from the crowd.
In the afternoon, prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions. In a thoughtful gesture, all participating children received consolation prizes, which greatly encouraged and delighted them.
The event was filled with engaging activities, delicious food, and a joyful atmosphere that was thoroughly enjoyed by both children and their parents alike.
As the program concluded, participants collectively expressed a strong desire to continue hosting larger-scale events in the future that not only bring the community together but also promote Islamic values and education for children. MUNA hopes that such initiatives will continue to strengthen unity within the community and contribute positively to the moral and educational development of the younger generation.
