There is currently no confirmed schedule for a meeting between Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during Dr. Yunus’s ongoing visit to London. Prime Minister Starmer is presently on an official visit to Canada.

According to Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, the meeting may take place if Prime Minister Starmer returns to the UK before June 14—when Professor Yunus is scheduled to conclude his London trip—and if a time slot becomes available. The press secretary disclosed this information at a press conference held today (Tuesday) at 4:15 PM local time at the Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus landed at London’s Heathrow Airport at 7:00 AM local time on June 10 for his four-day official visit. He went directly from the airport to the Dorchester Hotel.

At noon, Dr. Yunus held a scheduled meeting at the Dorchester Hotel with Wouter Van Wersch, Executive Vice President of Airbus. This was followed at 12:30 PM by a meeting with Charles Wiley, Executive Vice President of Scotland-based Menzies Aviation.

At 2:00 PM, the Chief Adviser met with Bangladeshi-origin British MPs Rupa Huq and Apsana Begum, along with other members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG). During the meeting, Dr. Yunus answered various questions concerning Bangladesh.

Later this evening, at 5:30 PM, Dr. Yunus is expected to meet Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland (Sharlie Ayorkor Botchwey).

The press conference was also attended by Assistant Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and Bangladesh High Commission’s Press Minister in London, Akbar Hossain.
