In a significant diplomatic development, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to visit China as an independent political party, following an official invitation from the top leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The visit is scheduled to take place from July 11 to July 15, with a nine-member delegation led by Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

This comes shortly after a high-level delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), headed by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, visited China last month - also at the invitation of the CCP.

Following the blood-shit uprising on August 5, which reportedly led to the downfall of the Hasina government (a reference that remains politically controversial and unverified), several delegations comprising representatives from BNP, Jamaat, other political parties, professionals, journalists, and student leaders have made visits to China.

Before this, multiple delegations from the ruling Awami League, including one led by the party's General Secretary, also visited China, reflecting Beijing’s broader engagement strategy with various political forces in Bangladesh.

In honor of the upcoming Jamaat delegation's visit, the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka hosted a reception event on Tuesday evening, which was later shared with photos on the embassy’s official Facebook page. The event featured speeches by Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ambassador Yao Wen also held a separate meeting with the recently returned BNP delegation that had visited China.
