The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will observe the 80th birthday of party chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia on Friday, August 15, with special prayers and milad mahfils across the country.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme during a press briefing on Wednesday, August 13.

He said that a milad and doa mahfil will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday on the ground floor of the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka. Senior leaders of the party are expected to attend the event.

“In addition to the central program in Dhaka, similar gatherings will be organized at BNP offices and local mosques nationwide. Leaders, activists, and supporters of the BNP, along with its affiliated and associate bodies, are requested to join the programmes,” Rizvi added.

It is worth noting that since 2016, Khaleda Zia has discontinued the tradition of cutting a birthday cake at midnight on August 15.
