NCP Secretary Akhtar Hossain Attacked at JFK Airport; Suspect Mizan Chowdhury Arrested

Police in the United States have arrested Mizan Chowdhury, the attacker of NCP Secretary Akhtar Hossain, at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Chowdhury was detained from Jackson Heights at 9:28 PM on Monday. He is scheduled to be produced in court on Wednesday.

Mizan Chowdhury, an Awami League activist from Zakiganj, Sylhet, was identified as the individual who threw an egg at Akhtar Hossain.

Akhtar Hossain had arrived in New York as part of the delegation accompanying Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The delegation also included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Amir Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, NCP Joint Convener Dr. Tasneem Zara, among others.

At the airport, Awami League activists reportedly attacked Akhtar Hossain, pelting him with eggs and verbally abusing him.
