Qatar’s Royal Air Ambulance will fly to Dhaka if the medical board gives clearance, BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury said on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, he said he has been in constant contact with the Qatari authorities on behalf of the BNP and that all arrangements have been kept ready.

“The air ambulance will come to Bangladesh as soon as the medical board gives the green signal. If approved, Begum Khaleda Zia will be taken to London for advanced treatment,” he said, adding that the Qatari authorities have completed all necessary preparations.

Responding to questions about reports of an air ambulance being arranged from Germany, Enamul Haque Chowdhury clarified that the arrangements were being made by the Qatari royal authorities.

“It is not our initiative. The Qatari authorities are arranging a state-of-the-art air ambulance from Germany under royal supervision,” he said.

He said Khaleda Zia’s condition remains unchanged and that she is being kept under close observation at the critical care unit.

“The medical board conducted several tests over the last two days and is reviewing the reports. Two meetings of the medical board were held on Friday, and her health condition is reviewed daily,” he added.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital since November 23.
