Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has promised that Allama Mamunul Haque will be made a minister if the 11-party alliance wins power in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
He made the announcement on Monday while addressing an election rally of Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis and the 11-party alliance candidate for the Dhaka-13 constituency. The rally was held at the Mohammadpur Central Eidgah ground in the capital, where Dr. Shafiqur Rahman spoke as the chief guest.
The rally was presided over by Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, chief adviser of Mamunul Haque’s election management committee for Dhaka-13. Special guest at the event was Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the party’s nominated candidate for the Dhaka-11 constituency.
Addressing the gathering, the Jamaat Amir said that if the Jamaat–NCP-led 11-party electoral alliance comes to power, Mamunul Haque will be appointed as a minister. “Mamunul Haque will not only represent the people of Dhaka-13. The people of the entire country will get a dignified minister who will speak in parliament for the rights of 180 million people,” he said.
He added that Mamunul Haque would speak for Islamic scholars, stand for Islamic values, raise his voice against injustice, and take a firm position in favor of justice. Expressing optimism, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said the voters of Dhaka-13 would embrace Mamunul Haque with love and ensure his victory.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman further said that the 11-party alliance was formed based on public aspirations and the expectations of the July movement activists, with the goal of building a “new Bangladesh.” “This unity is against extortionists, corrupt elements, habitual litigants, and the masterminds of all forms of criminal activity,” he said, adding that when people unite, victory will belong to the masses, “Insha’Allah.”
