Victimised students have accused BSB Global Network of financial fraud and embezzlement, alleging that the organization deceived students under the pretext of arranging higher education opportunities abroad.

The allegations were made during a press conference held on Saturday at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital.

According to the students, BSB Global Network, an affiliate of Cambrian Education Group, collected large sums of money from students claiming it would process admissions and pay tuition fees to foreign educational institutions. However, they alleged that in most cases the money was never transferred to the respective institutions and was instead misappropriated.

As a result, many students reportedly lost their admission opportunities, leaving their academic futures uncertain.

The affected students also claimed that after prolonged communication attempts, the company’s chairman, Mohammad Khairul Bashar Bahar, issued cheques to refund the money, but the cheques were later dishonoured by banks.

According to the victims, nearly 2,000 students have been affected by the alleged scam.

During the press conference, the students demanded that their money be returned promptly with interest and compensation. They also called on the government to take exemplary legal action against those responsible and implement effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The students further stated that they would continue peaceful and lawful protests until their demands are met.

Earlier on Saturday, the affected students held a human chain protest in front of the National Press Club.

The press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity was chaired by Roman Ali Laskar, while Manjur Elahi conducted the presentation and Md. Mamun moderated the question-and-answer session. Speakers at the event included Kaniz Subarna, Kaniz Runa and Morshed Alam.
