The United States has provided emergency medical and training equipment to the Bangladesh Coast Guard in Chattogram and Teknaf to strengthen its capacity to respond to emergencies and disasters.

The assistance, provided under the Overseas Humanitarian Assistance Shared Information System (OHASIS) project, includes emergency medical supplies, 120 trauma response bags and 21 mannequins for CPR training of Coast Guard personnel.

The US Embassy in Dhaka disclosed the information in a press note issued on Wednesday.

According to the embassy, the emergency medical and training equipment was handed over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard in Chattogram and Teknaf on September 7 and 9, respectively.

The embassy said the assistance will enhance the Coast Guard’s ability to provide first aid during emergencies and improve its capacity to respond to disasters.

The initiative continues the United States’ longstanding cooperation with the Bangladesh Coast Guard in humanitarian assistance and disaster response, the embassy said.

It added that the support will also help advance security cooperation between the two countries and contribute to strengthening capable partners across the Indo-Pacific region.
