BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to return to Dhaka on Monday via a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar, party officials confirmed on Saturday.

The announcement was made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir during a press briefing held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Saturday evening.

“Begum Zia will return home in a special air ambulance generously provided by the Emir of Qatar. We are making all necessary arrangements for her arrival,” said Mirza Fakhrul.

Earlier, Sylhet BNP sources had stated that Khaleda Zia would return on a regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight via Sylhet, and local party leaders had begun preparing to welcome her. However, those plans have since changed.

Dr. Enamul Haque Chowdhury, an adviser to the BNP Chairperson who is currently accompanying her in London, confirmed the new arrangement on Saturday night. Speaking to reporters, he said, “She will be flying back to Dhaka on the special air ambulance provided by the Qatari Emir. We have applied for a flight slot at Heathrow Airport, and once that is approved, the final departure schedule will be confirmed.”

Begum Zia has been staying in London for medical treatment and is expected to continue receiving care upon her return to Bangladesh.
