Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez delivered a strong message against the United States on Monday, declaring that “enough is enough” and that she will no longer follow Washington’s directives. She made the statement on state television during an address to oil workers.
Rodríguez, who assumed office with U.S. backing, has been navigating a delicate balance between negotiating with Maduro-aligned factions at home and meeting Washington’s expectations abroad. Her tenure has been marked by constant pressure from both sides.
Even before completing her first month in office, Rodríguez publicly pushed back against U.S. pressure, which includes demands related to resuming oil production and other policy measures. Addressing a gathering of oil workers in Puerto La Cruz, she stated, “There has been too much U.S. interference in Venezuelan politics. Our internal problems and differences will be resolved by Venezuela itself.”
She further highlighted that in the struggle against fascism and extremism, the country has paid a heavy price.
Analysts note that although Rodríguez came to power with U.S. support, her recent stance signals a shift, positioning her in opposition to Washington. This move introduces new uncertainty in Venezuelan politics and could further complicate the country’s future political landscape.
