The Council of the European Union has announced an extension of sanctions against Iran over serious human rights violations, prolonging the measures until April 13, 2027.
In a statement released on Monday, the European Union said the sanctions include travel bans, asset freezes, and restrictions on equipment used for telecommunications monitoring.
The measures also prohibit the export of equipment to Iran that could be used for internal repression.
The EU first imposed sanctions on Iran in 2011 in response to serious human rights abuses and has renewed them annually since then.
