Putin to Visit China Following Trump’s Departure

Immediately following U.S. President Donald Trump’s three-day visit to Beijing, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit China next week.

According to the South China Morning Post, the one-day working visit is expected on May 20. While Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated the visit is part of regular bilateral communication and independent of Trump’s trip, the timing is seen as highly significant in global geopolitics.

With this visit, China is set to achieve a unique diplomatic record, having hosted the heads of state from all four other permanent UN Security Council members—the US, UK, France, and Russia—within a span of just a few months.
