The United States carried out airstrikes on areas surrounding Iran's only civilian nuclear power plant on Thursday, according to a deputy governor of Bushehr Province.

Provincial authorities said multiple locations were targeted, including areas near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, a military base in the city of Chogadak and a fishing port in the southern part of the province. No casualties were reported immediately after the attacks.

The strikes mark the fourth reported attack in the vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear facility since the outbreak of the full-scale conflict, according to data from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), an independent conflict monitoring organization.

In April, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned that any military action affecting the Bushehr nuclear facility could pose serious safety risks and urged all parties to avoid attacks on or near the site.

Built with Russian assistance, the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is Iran's only operational civilian nuclear power station. It currently operates one active nuclear reactor, while two additional reactors are under construction.

Russia evacuated some of its personnel from the facility in February as regional hostilities intensified.
