China Eases Visa Process for Bangladeshi Visitors to 140th Canton Fair

China has taken steps to simplify the visa process for Bangladeshi businesspeople and visitors planning to attend the upcoming Canton Fair.

The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has announced special visa arrangements to facilitate the participation of Bangladeshi applicants at the 140th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair.

The embassy disclosed the information in a press release on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the 140th Canton Fair will be held in three phases from October 15 to November 4 in Guangzhou, the capital of southern China’s Guangdong province. The fair attracts businesspeople and visitors from around the world.

To apply for a visa to attend the Canton Fair, Bangladeshi applicants must submit an official invitation letter issued by the fair authorities.

To facilitate the visa process, applicants have been advised to upload copies of their previous visas, travel records and a guarantee letter from their own business with their online applications. However, the embassy said the guarantee letter is an optional document.

Warning Against False Information and Fraud

The embassy said applications containing incomplete or inaccurate information would be returned directly.

Applicants have been urged to complete their online forms carefully and provide accurate information to avoid delays in visa processing and disruptions to their travel plans.

The embassy also warned that applications could be permanently rejected if applicants alter invitation letters, provide false information or submit forged documents.

Applicants have also been advised not to have their forms completed on their behalf by another person or a third-party agency.

The embassy clarified that no agency or individual has been authorised to provide visa-related services on its behalf.

It warned applicants against fraudulent advertisements promising a “guaranteed visa,” “money back if the visa is rejected” or access to a “special channel.”

The embassy further said that, in accordance with Chinese law, only the relevant authorities can determine the validity period of a visa and permission to enter China.

Applicants have therefore been advised not to believe claims of influence or special privileges made by individuals or organisations.

The Chinese Embassy said it remains committed to providing lawful and transparent visa services. It also warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any embassy official or local employee found attempting to use their influence for personal gain.
