Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his frustration over the inability to bring an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Speaking recently, Trump stated, "My relationship with Putin was meaningless."

This comment comes a month after the widely publicized Alaska Summit, where Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss a potential resolution to the Ukraine conflict. At the meeting, both sides agreed that Ukraine and Russia would first engage in bilateral talks, and later, if necessary, a trilateral meeting involving Trump, Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would take place. However, that meeting has yet to happen.

During a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, which took place during the United Nations General Assembly, Trump further commented that Macron had assisted him in resolving several conflicts. Reaffirming his claim of having ended seven wars, Trump described the Russia-Ukraine conflict as his "greatest frustration."

Trump remarked, "I thought this would be the easiest conflict to solve because of my relationship with Putin. But unfortunately, that relationship meant nothing."

He went on to highlight his achievements in stopping seven wars, where countless lives were lost, arguing that it was an accomplishment no other president or world leader had managed before.

Trump also criticized the United Nations, accusing the organization of failing to make any real efforts to end the war. He described the UN’s actions as empty rhetoric, stating, "They've done nothing to stop the war. It never got close to ending the conflict; it’s all just empty talk. And empty talk never stops a war."

Trump's stance on Ukraine has evolved recently. After discussions with Zelensky, he urged NATO countries to take a tougher stance. He called for any Russian warplanes that enter NATO airspace to be shot down. In a statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized that with the support of the European Union, Ukraine could reclaim its lost territories and emerge victorious in the war.
