U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement, but expressed continued optimism that a peace deal between the two sides is still achievable.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, Jonathan Karl of ABC News shared on social media that the president conveyed this message directly to him.

Quoting Trump, Karl wrote: “It (the deal) will happen—one way or another. It will happen the easy way or the hard way. You can quote me.”

Despite rising tensions following the alleged ceasefire violation, there are still indications that diplomatic efforts have not entirely collapsed. Observers believe there remains a possibility for a negotiated resolution.

The current two-week ceasefire agreement is set to expire on Wednesday. Before that, the United States and Iran may meet again for a second round of talks, raising cautious hopes for progress toward de-escalation.
