Barron Trump Keeps Low Profile Amid Reported Threats From Iranian State Media

Barron Trump, the 20-year-old youngest son of US President Donald Trump, has been largely keeping out of the public eye and living a secluded life, according to a report by the New York Post.

The report said Barron has spent much of his summer break with his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. The report comes after an Iranian state television channel aired a video threatening to kill Barron.

A source close to the Trump family told the New York Post, “He doesn’t go out.”

Another source described Barron as having become “quite a loner.” According to the source, Barron does not like being watched by people in public and tries to avoid attention. When he is in a public place, he reportedly moves quickly to a private or secure location.

“You’re not going to see him out and about,” the source said.

According to the New York Post, Barron had grown close to conservative activist Charlie Kirk and was deeply affected by the attack against him. Barron reportedly called his father after learning of the incident and told him, “This is what happens when you go outside.”

Melania Trump’s office told the newspaper that, in light of the recent threats, any information concerning Barron’s private life should be excluded from media coverage. The First Lady is highly protective of her son and respects his decision to maintain his privacy.

Security concerns

The report also recalled that when Donald Trump’s first presidential term ended and Barron was due to lose his Secret Service protection, Melania’s office contacted the White House. They asked then-President Joe Biden to extend security arrangements for Barron, and the Biden administration agreed to the request.

A documentary about Melania shows her telling Secret Service agents in January 2025, “I know Barron will not go outside. And I respect his decision.” The conversation took place while plans were being discussed for the Trump family to walk along Pennsylvania Avenue during the presidential inauguration. The outdoor plan was later moved indoors because of extremely cold weather.

Iranian state media aired alleged threat

The concerns intensified after Iran’s state television network IRIB aired a three-minute video last Monday titled, “Where and How Should Barron Trump Be Killed?”

The video, broadcast on Channel 3, which has been described as linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claimed that Barron was under close surveillance based on intelligence information. It reportedly showed details about his residence in Washington, his university, his daily routes and aspects of his Secret Service protection.

The report also claimed that a $10 million bounty had been placed on Barron’s killing, although it did not identify who or which organization allegedly offered the reward.

A month earlier, the IRGC-linked Tasnim News Agency had reportedly aired a similar threatening video targeting Melania Trump.

However, Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei said in an interview broadcast Thursday by Lebanon’s Al Manar TV that reports of a potential plot to kill Trump’s youngest son were completely false.

The US Secret Service said it was aware of the video aired by Iranian state media.

Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said the agency was aware of the video and investigates anything that could be considered a threat to people under its protection.

The agency also said it does not discuss protective intelligence or other operational security matters in order to safeguard its protective operations.
