The United States has announced more than $3.6 million in humanitarian assistance for Nepal following the devastating floods that have claimed hundreds of lives and left nearly 3,000 people missing.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the U.S. Department of State said the funding will support emergency relief efforts for communities affected by the disaster.

In a post on X, the department said, "The United States stands with the people of Nepal. We are providing more than $3.6 million in life-saving humanitarian assistance."

The aid package will provide emergency food assistance to 10,000 flood-affected families for up to three months, helping to meet their immediate humanitarian needs.

Nepal has suffered extensive loss of life and widespread destruction following the recent catastrophic floods. With thousands of people still missing, authorities fear the death toll could rise further as search and recovery operations continue.
