Trump Gives $45,000 Cash Gifts to Executive Assistant and Two White House Staffers

US President Donald Trump gave his executive assistant Natalie Harp a cash gift of $45,000, equivalent to around Tk 5.5 million, according to US media reports on Wednesday.

The Washington Post reported that two other White House staffers, Margo Martin and Chamberlain Harris, also received $45,000 each. In financial disclosures, the three women described the money as cash received as a holiday gift.

Harp has frequently been seen alongside Trump during his second term. She has reportedly typed social media posts for the president and printed information for him when needed, earning her the nickname “human printer.”

According to annual financial disclosures submitted to Congress, Harp earns an annual salary of $150,000 as a special assistant and executive assistant to the president.

A White House spokesperson said Trump has a longstanding tradition of giving Christmas gifts to people in his close circle, including White House staff and aides.

The spokesperson said the gifts were unrelated to the recipients’ official duties and therefore were fully lawful under applicable laws and ethical standards.
