President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for a new White House ballroom, marking the first major renovation to "the People’s House" in decades.

The project, which is expected to cost $250 million, aims to create a larger space for state dinners and events, alleviating the current limitations of the White House’s available venues. The ballroom will be an extension of the East Room, designed to accommodate up to 650 guests, with the possibility of hosting 999 people.

Demolition work for the project has already begun, despite the absence of approval from the National Capital Planning Commission. The development is being privately funded, with major donations from companies like Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Google, among others. Trump has also pledged some of his personal wealth to finance the project.

Trump stated that no taxpayer money would be used, emphasizing that the ballroom would be a symbol of American ideals. The project is expected to be completed by 2027, with contributions coming from several corporations and individuals, including tech giants and defense firms. Carrier Global Corp. will provide HVAC systems for the new space.
