The United States has expressed support for Pakistan’s right to self-defense against attacks from Afghanistan, according to a statement shared by a senior US official.
Alice Hooker, Under Secretary for Political Affairs at the United States Department of State, made the remarks in a post on X.
In her post, Hooker said she had spoken with Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and conveyed deep condolences over the loss of lives in the recent clashes between Pakistan and the Taliban.
She added that the United States is closely monitoring the situation and supports Pakistan’s right to defend itself against attacks by the Taliban.
The statement comes amid escalating tensions and cross-border hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan, raising concerns over regional stability.
