U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Israel would follow his lead in the ongoing conflict with Iran, saying the war would end if he decided to stop it.

In a recent interview, Trump said Israel listens to him and considers him a true friend. “If I tell them to stop, they will stop,” he said, adding, “If I stop, the war will also stop.”

His remarks appear to differ from his earlier stance, when he suggested that any decision to end the conflict would be mutual and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would play a key role in the process.

According to a report by an American magazine, declining public support for the war in the United States is pushing Trump to gradually seek an exit strategy. Citing an Israeli official, the report noted that Netanyahu’s ability to make strategic decisions is limited without U.S. backing.

The report also said Trump had expressed frustration after details of a planned strike on Iran were leaked, at one point signaling a possible pause in military operations. However, after consulting a small group of close advisers, the plan was revised and the attack was launched later the same night.

For his part, Netanyahu has long sought to draw the United States more directly into the conflict. During a meeting in Washington, he reportedly told Trump that Israel had already advanced significantly and must now complete the operation. He also accused Tehran of delaying tactics while secretly advancing its nuclear program.
