The United States has made it clear that it is not in a hurry to reach a quick agreement to end the ongoing conflict with Iran. Over the past week, the administration of Donald Trump has repeatedly indicated that it is under no pressure to bring the war to a rapid conclusion.

In an interview on Friday, President Trump said that Iran is currently presenting a proposal, which the United States will review. However, he noted that he is not yet fully aware of the details. He previously emphasized that there is no time pressure on him to end the war and that he is willing to wait for a “good deal.”

This position was echoed by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who stated at a press conference that the United States has sufficient time and is not eager to finalize any agreement. During the same briefing, senior U.S. military official Dan Caine warned that if the current ceasefire collapses, American forces are fully prepared to resume military operations against Iran.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz made a strong statement, saying Israel is awaiting a green light from Washington to eliminate what he referred to as Iran’s “Khamenei regime.”

It is worth noting that on the first day of the conflict, a joint airstrike by the United States and Israel reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Israel’s hardline stance, combined with the United States’ cautious approach, is expected to prolong and further complicate the conflict in the Middle East.

For now, Washington appears focused on pursuing a deal only on terms that it considers favorable.
