NEWS DESKBangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir organized a mass rally titled "July Awakening: Rebuilding with New Zeal" in Dhaka on Tuesday, commemorating the anniversary of the public uprising that, according to the organization, marked the symbolic 'conquest of Ganabhaban'.
The rally began at 10 a.m. from the Central Shaheed Minar and concluded at Shahbagh with a public gathering. The program was jointly hosted by Helal Uddin, president of Dhaka Metropolitan South, and Asif Abdullah, president of Dhaka Metropolitan East.
Addressing the rally as chief guest, Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam stated that the July uprising was a symbol of anti-fascist awakening and not the achievement of a single party or individual. “All political forces and people from all walks of life took part in this historic movement,” he emphasized.
He called on the government to swiftly complete trials related to state-sponsored killings and reaffirmed Shibir's commitment to counter conspiracies and propaganda. Highlighting ongoing issues such as water inequality, border killings, and foreign surveillance, he warned that these pose serious threats to the nation’s sovereignty. Zahidul Islam also urged those engaged in new conspiracies to learn lessons from past failures.
Other speakers at the rally included Shibir Secretary General Nurul Islam Saddam, Central Office Secretary Sibghatullah, Publicity Secretary Azizur Rahman Azad, International Affairs Secretary Mu’tasim Billah Shahedi, and Dhaka University Shibir President S. M. Farhad, along with various leaders from both central and metropolitan committees.
