Germany's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, has described Bangladesh's upcoming national election as the largest democratic election in the world.

Speaking after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Mohammad Alamgir at the Election Commission office in Agargaon on Thursday afternoon, he highlighted the significance of the event.

The German Ambassador told the media, "We had very productive discussions with the Election Commission. Next year, Bangladesh will hold the world’s largest democratic election. More than 127 million people will have the opportunity to express their democratic will."

He emphasized that this election is not only crucial for Bangladesh but also presents a significant opportunity for the country’s resurgence in the global democratic arena. "Thus, this is not only important for Bangladesh, but also for the regional and global democratic community," he added.

Dr. Lotz also praised the Election Commission for its preparation to tackle this massive challenge. "I wish them success, and I also wish the people of Bangladesh the best as they return to their democracy," he said.

In response to a journalist’s question, the German Ambassador called for ensuring a credible and inclusive election, urging, "We believe Bangladesh needs a credible election—one where multiple political parties can participate."
