EU Support for Bangladesh’s Democratic Transition, Welcoming Dr. Yunus’s Leadership

The European Union (EU) has expressed full support for the ongoing democratic transition in Bangladesh under the current interim government.

Reaffirming its confidence in the country’s leadership, the EU also welcomed the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. At the same time, the EU encouraged all political parties to participate constructively in the electoral process.

In a Facebook post, the EU stated: “We support Bangladesh’s progress toward democratic elections under the interim government.”

It further said: “We welcome the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in preparing for a participatory, free, and fair election in the coming February.”

Calling on political parties to act responsibly, the EU added: “We encourage political parties to engage constructively in the next steps.”
