Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has urged members of the armed forces to carry out their responsibilities with skill and professionalism to ensure a peaceful and festive national election.
He made the call on Friday (21 November) while addressing a reception at Senakunjo marking Armed Forces Day 2025.
“The upcoming national election will be considered an important chapter in Bangladesh’s democratic progress,” the Chief Adviser said. “To organize a smooth and festive election, I call upon the members of the armed forces to perform their duties with full competence and professionalism.”
In his speech, the Chief Adviser paid tribute to all martyrs of the Liberation War, the wounded veterans, and other freedom fighters. He also honored the martyrs, the injured, and all participants of the July–August 2024 student-public uprising.
He further said that as a peace-loving nation, Bangladesh believes in maintaining dignified and respectful coexistence with all friendly states. However, he stressed that the country must remain prepared and determined to protect its sovereignty from any aggressive external threat.
To this end, he noted that efforts continue to modernize the Army, Navy, and Air Force through advanced training and the integration of contemporary technologies in line with global standards.
