Caretaker Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has sought full cooperation from the Commonwealth to ensure the smooth arrangement of Bangladesh’s upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. He made the request during a meeting with Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on Monday at the state guesthouse Jamuna.

“We need your cooperation to successfully conduct the upcoming national election, alongside our democratic transition,” the Chief Adviser said.

In response, Secretary-General Botchwey assured Dr. Yunus of the Commonwealth’s support. “The Commonwealth will provide full assistance to Bangladesh during the election as well as in the post-election transition process,” she stated.

Highlighting the strength of the organization, the Commonwealth Secretary-General noted, “The Commonwealth consists of 56 countries, including members of the G7 and G20. This offers vast opportunities for mutual cooperation.”

She also informed that she had held meetings with various key stakeholders, including the Chief Justice, the Legal Adviser, the Foreign Affairs Adviser, and the Chief Election Commissioner.
