The schedule for the 13th national election and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter will be announced tomorrow at 6pm Bangladesh time.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will officially declare the schedule during an address to the nation, which will be broadcast by Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.
Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed shared the information while speaking to journalists at the EC headquarters in Dhaka this afternoon (10 December).
Earlier today, the CEC's speech was recorded by Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.
The upcoming national election and referendum will be held in a single day in the first half of February 2026.
During the briefing, the secretary was asked whether any complications might arise regarding the constituencies of Bagerhat and Gazipur, in light of recent court orders.
In response, he said, "As of now, the decision is to publish the schedule for all 300 constituencies. If any correction becomes necessary later for any reason, that can also be done following due procedures. We have not yet received the court order."
His remarks come after the Appellate Division upheld the High Court verdict that declared the Election Commission's gazette reducing Bagerhat's four constituencies to three as illegal, and the same court also retained Gazipur's five seats, which were gazetted to be modified to six.
On 10 November, the High Court declared the Election Commission's gazette that reduced the number of parliamentary constituencies in Bagerhat from four to three as illegal. The court also directed the authorities to reinstate all four constituencies in the district.
