Algeria Keen to Strengthen Cooperation with Bangladesh

Bangladesh and Algeria have expressed interest in strengthening bilateral relations between the countries with particular emphasis on cooperation in the field of energy, education, trade, investment and agriculture.

The newly appointed Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdelouahab Saidani paid a courtesy call on Foreign Adviser, Touhid Hossain at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, said a media release.

The adviser greeted the envoy on his appointment.

Saidani proposed formation of an Intergovernmental Joint Committee between Bangladesh and Algeria for holding discussions and consultations on issues of common interests.

He emphasised a high-level bilateral visit between the two countries as soon as possible.

Signing of a good number of MoUs or agreements between the countries was also explored during the meeting which includes Air Services between Dhaka- Algiers, exchange programme between Foreign Service Academies of both the countries etc.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral mechanisms, including convening of the next round of Foreign Office Consultations to be held in Algiers at an early date.
