Sanjay Chisim and his associate Md Faisal have confessed in court to helping prime accused Faisal Karim Masud flee to India following the shooting death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
On Thursday (January 1), the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Jamsed Alam recorded their confessional statements. The two accused were produced before the court the same day.
The investigating officer of the case, Detective Branch Inspector Faisal Ahmed, submitted an application seeking to record their confessions. Following the hearing, the court accepted their statements and ordered both accused to be sent to jail.
According to the case details, Sharif Osman Hadi had concluded election campaigning after Friday prayers in Motijheel on December 12. At around 2:20 pm, while he was travelling toward Suhrawardy Udyan, his autorickshaw reached the Box Culvert area, where assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him and fled the scene.
Critically injured, Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital after surgery. On December 15, he was flown to Singapore for advanced treatment, where he died on December 18 while undergoing care.
Following the shooting, Inqilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a murder attempt case with Paltan Police Station on December 14, which was later converted into a murder case after Hadi’s death.
