Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended warm congratulations to Tarique Rahman, chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), following the party’s landslide victory in Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Election.
In a post shared on social media on Friday, Modi praised Rahman’s leadership in securing what he described as a decisive mandate.
“I extend my warm congratulations to Mr. Tarique Rahman for leading to a resounding victory in Bangladesh’s National Parliament elections,” Modi wrote.
He added, “This victory reflects the trust that the people of Bangladesh have placed in your leadership. India will continue to support a democratic, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh.”
Modi further expressed his eagerness to strengthen bilateral ties, stating, “I look forward to working with you to further deepen our multifaceted relationship and advance our shared development goals.”
The message signals New Delhi’s intent to maintain and expand cooperation with Dhaka under the new political leadership.
