Chief Whip Nahid Demands Impeachment and Arrest of President Shahabuddin

Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the opposition Chief Whip, has demanded the impeachment and arrest of President Mohammad Shahabuddin.

He made the demand on Wednesday after visiting the graves of the martyrs of the Pilkhana massacre at the Banani Military Cemetery in the capital.

Nahid Islam alleged that President Shahabuddin failed to take effective measures to prevent the July 24 killings, which he described as a genocide. “He cannot avoid responsibility for the genocide. He must be impeached in the first session of Parliament. After that, he must be arrested on charges of genocide,” he said.
