Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, alleged that the party’s "due rights" were snatched away in the recently concluded national election.

Speaking at a leadership training camp organized by the Sylhet district unit on Friday (February 27), he urged party activists to remain united and prepare rigorously for the upcoming local government elections.

The Jamaat chief remarked, “This is the first time Jamaat-e-Islami has achieved such a significant milestone in parliamentary politics, and by the grace of Almighty, we have secured the position of the main opposition party.” He claimed it is evident to the nation that their rights were compromised in the general polls. Dr. Rahman called upon the members to overcome past setbacks and stand firm against collective forces for the welfare of the country. The day-long event, held at Malancha Community Center, focused on organizational discipline and developing ideological leadership.
