Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman has expressed Bangladesh’s stern condemnation of Israel's recent land laws aimed at annexing occupied Palestinian territories. Speaking at the OIC Foreign Ministers' Executive Committee meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the minister categorized these moves as a direct violation of international law.
Dr. Rahman highlighted that Israel’s attempts to simplify land acquisition in the West Bank are designed to alter the legal and demographic landscape of Palestine, particularly Al-Quds Al-Sharif. He reiterated Bangladesh's unwavering stance for a sustainable solution through the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and unhindered humanitarian access for affected civilians.
Conveying Ramadan greetings from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Foreign Minister emphasized the newly elected democratic government's intent to strengthen ties within the Muslim Ummah. On the sidelines, he held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine. The international delegates congratulated Bangladesh on its successful elections and expressed strong support for Bangladesh's candidacy for the Presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly.
