The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has issued a cautionary statement that holding a U.S. visa does not automatically guarantee entry into the United States. The announcement was made on the embassy’s official verified Facebook page on Saturday.

According to the embassy, having a U.S. visa does not ensure 100% travel approval. Whether a traveler can enter the United States and how long they can stay is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry. In other words, even with a valid visa, an immigration officer has the authority to deny entry.

The post also emphasized that overstaying the authorized period or engaging in activities not permitted under the visa type—such as working on a tourist visa—is a serious offense. Violating these rules may result in a permanent ban from traveling to the United States in the future.

The embassy clearly stated that proper visa use is entirely the responsibility of the traveler. Compliance with the rules, staying within the authorized time, and returning as scheduled are crucial for eligibility for future visas or travel opportunities.
