The 11-party alliance, led by Jamaat-e-Islami, has officially announced a street demonstration in the capital following their recent walkout from the Parliament. The alliance is set to hold a protest rally at the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque this Saturday (April 4), demanding the implementation of the "July Charter" and constitutional reforms as per the national referendum results
The announcement was made by the alliance coordinator, Hamidur Rahman Azad, following a high-level meeting in Gulshan chaired by Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Azad criticized the government for allegedly ignoring the people's mandate and attempting to push through amendments without genuine reform. He accused the current administration of treading a "fascist path" similar to previous regimes.
The alliance warned that if the government fails to take immediate steps toward fulfilling the public demand, a long-term roadmap for a sustained movement will be unveiled during their next meeting on April 7. The leaders claimed that the ruling party has failed to manage parliamentary proceedings effectively.
