A court in Dhaka has sentenced Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Rahul and Daud, the main culprit in the murder case of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case filed under the Arms Act.
The verdict was delivered on Thursday by Judge Mahmudul Mohsin of Dhaka Special Tribunal-26. The matter was confirmed by the tribunal’s bench assistant, Ismail Hossain.
According to the case statement, on November 7, 2024, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) conducted a raid at a flat in the Baitul Aman Housing Society area of Adabor. During the operation, Faisal Karim was arrested. A search of his residence led to the recovery of two foreign-made pistols and five rounds of ammunition.
The following day, on November 8, a case under the Arms Act was filed against him at Adabor Police Station by RAB Havildar Md. Mashiur Rahman.
After completing the investigation, Sub-Inspector Zahid Hasan of Adabor Police Station submitted the charge sheet against Faisal Karim on March 28, 2025.
During the trial, 13 witnesses testified before the court.
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi was shot in the Bijoynagar area of Dhaka on December 12 and later died on December 18 while undergoing treatment. Faisal Karim has been named the main accused in the murder case filed over the incident, which is currently under investigation.
