In a significant legislative move, the National Parliament has passed 10 bills to transform ordinances issued by the interim government into permanent laws.
During the 13th day of the first session of the 13th Parliament this Friday (April 10, 2026), ten crucial bills were passed unanimously under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher moved bills establishing development authorities for Narayanganj, Barisal, Mymensingh, Comilla, and Rangpur. Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury secured the passage of the Shilpakala Academy Amendment Bill, while Environment Minister Abdul Awal Mintu moved the Forest Industry Development Corporation Bill.
Additionally, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury oversaw the passage of three key financial bills, including the Deposit Protection Bill and the VAT & Supplementary Duty Amendment Bill. These bills, recommended by a special committee, were passed without any further amendments.
