Prime Minister’s adviser and spokesperson Mahdi Amin has said the government, under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, has achieved “unprecedented success” within the first two months of its 180-day action plan.

Speaking at a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday, Amin described the progress as a “revival of democracy” and a reflection of public aspirations.

Key Highlights from the First 60 Days

The government outlined 60 major initiatives spanning social welfare, economy, governance, and infrastructure:

The government highlighted decisions such as canceling duty-free car privileges for ministers and limiting VIP protocol to reduce traffic disruptions.

Political Messaging

Amin emphasized that even criticism of the prime minister has not led to punitive action, presenting it as evidence of growing freedom of expression and democratic tolerance.

Officials present at the briefing included Press Secretary Saleh Shibly and other members of the press wing.

Outlook

The government portrays the first 60 days as a strong start toward broader reforms. However, independent verification of many claims and their long-term impact remains to be seen as the 180-day plan progresses.
